Cotabato coco sugar adjudged world’s best

KIDAPAWAN CITY — A coconut sugar produced in a town in North Cotabato was adjudged this year’s world’s outstanding quality for coconut sap sugar. The Globa Brand Award (GBA) and the Global Excellence Award (GEA) will be given to Jerry Taray, manufaturer of Tree Life Coco Sugar during an awarding ceremony on Nov. 13 in Quezon City.
Taray, farmer and trader from Carmen, North Cotabato, said this is the first time he will receive an international award. The awarding comes at a time when both GBA and GEA are celebrating their more than two decades of existence as corporate and production international award giving body that recognizes excellence in branding and trademark industry.

Taray’s coconut sugar works well with coffee, he said, and is ideal for cooking and baking. The Tree Life Coconut Sugar was first invented in 2011 when the Philippine Coconut Authority introduced coconut sugar technology to Taray and his wife. Since then, it became one of the best natural sweeteners and a substitute to refined sugar.
Taray’s factory is located in his 50-hectare farm in Carmen town where he has planted some 8,000 coconut trees.
